DAMAGE BY DOGS
SOME VALUABLE PLANTS DESTROYED. IN^THE HASTINGS RESERVES. At last night's meeting of the Hastings Borough Council, the caretaker of reserves, Mr W. W. Adams, reported as follows : — "It is with regret tliat I have onee more to refer to damage caused by stray dogs in tlie garden plots in tbe town. On Monday morning last, I took a tally of the number of plants destroyed during the weekend on tlie garden plot 011 what is known as Rivers' section, and found that no less than 9s worth had been destroyed, and this is gomg on almost continuously on most of tlie plots in tbe ceutre of the town. • "The cost of the plants Tost is not tlie worst lea ture, but tlie cost of labour and the ioss of the fieason lias also to he considered. It is most annoying to see some people stand talking whilst their dogs are running on and scratcliing in the flower beds, and the oivners making no attempt to stop them." It was deeided to refer the matter to the inspector and the dog tax collector.
