ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD.
AUCKLAND, Last night. At the New Zealand Baptist ■Union Assembly the Rev._ F. A. PaTry, of New Plymouth, delivered a :union sermou emhodying an appeaF for the ■churclx t q come to grips with sin. The Rev. M. YV. P. Lascel lesrj - --secretary and treasurer, announced that there were now 7385 memhers of the Baptist Church in tlie -.Dominion. There had beeh 717 additions to the membership and 406 baptisms were recorded. Reference was made to the zeal and expansion of the work among ■ the young people. Admiration and appreciation of the high Christian stand taken by the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, during his term of office in New Zealand were expressed, and hest wishes were extended to liim and to Lady Alice Fergusson as they return to the Old Country*. Tlirongh the liberality of the widow "of the lat© Mr Samuel Dennis, of Can-tei-hury, a fund has been inaugurated to help the opening and equipping of new Sunday schools. The treasurer's statement showed a credit balance in nearly all the funds of the union. The accumulated funds, including investments. now amount to £33,S36. A total of £27,396 passed through the unon office for the year, heing an increase of approximately £10,000 on last year. At to-night's session an address prepared hy the incoming president, the Rev. J. YV. Ktemp, Auckland, who is in hospital, was read, the subiect Ijeing, aPevivnls and Evnngelism."
