"WELLINGTON, Last night. The total of registered unemployed in tlie Dominion at 4.30 p.m. 011 Wednesday was 6188, as compared with 5611 on the previous day, an increase of 547. The special Cabinet committee dealing witli tlie iineinployment lias issuecl iustructions that these figures be 110 longer issued. AVitli regarcl to tlie fignres above affeeting Napier, it must he pointed out that tlie 316 includes the registrations at sinaller towns in Hawke's Bay. and also names which do not now fignre on the department's boolis here. Yesterday all registrations which had heen standing a fortniglit or lonsrer were crossed off the Napier b'ooTcs, leaving a total of 270 for the Hawke's Bay distriet — 175 in Napier, 55 in Hastings, and the remainder heing from Dannevirke, AATairoa and such like places. On Tuesdav 28 men will he despatchecl to AYaikaremoana. which will complete the quota of 50 allowed this distriet on'that particular work.
