NELSON PARK TENNIS CLUB'S PROSPECTS.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Optimism for the success of the coming season was expressed at the annual meeting of the Nelson Park Tennis Club, when there was a good attendance of memoers. Tlie annual report showed that itlie club had a very successful year, and judging by the interest taken in it, an even more sucessful season miglit be antieipated this year. Congratuiatory reference was mad© to the fact that in the C. Grade competition for the Neal and Close Cup, the club's A team 'reached the final, when, after a senes of good games, they sutfered defeat at the hands of the Hawke's Tennis Club's team. The balance slieet showed the financial position to be very satisfactory. ELECTJON OF OFFICERS. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr F. O. Rice for his services as honorary auditor; the outgoing honorary secretary, Mr MeKenzie, _ who _ was granted an lionorarium for his services ; and also to the honorary treasurer, Mr R. Souter. The opening day of the courts was fixed as Saturday, October 26. It was resolved to approaeh the borough council for permission to use the courts on Sundays. It was stated in the report that the thanks of the club were due to the Mayor for his lively interest, to the caretaker and staff ,and to the Borough Council for the use of the meeting room. The retiring secretary, Mr M. A. MeKenzie, did not seek re-elec-tion. - In the unavoidable absence of the iiresident (His YVorship the' Mayor) Mr R. McGlashan occupied the chair.
