(To the Editor). v Sir, — Your able leader on tbe Stll under the above heafting will be heartily endorsed by every rigbt-minded person in tbe community. It is a dis-' : tinct blot on the administration of tlie Government of this Dominion that sueh farcical laws as those which govern motor traffic are allowed to exist, much less heing administered iu sueh haphazard fashion. It is true tliat every magistrate in New Zealand interprets the motor law offences from a different angle. It is elastie to a degi-ee. Probably courage to act in many instances is mistaken for leniency too often misplaced. Tlie consensus of public opinion is unanimous in ita. judgment that total inefficiency in administration of tlie motor laws %an he rightly cliarged to tlie Government. It is quite time drastic methods were adopted to check tbe increasing toll of fatal motor accidents which is yearly liiounting up. — I am, etc.,
