Privnte cable advices from Smyrna state that the crop of sultauas has been estimated at 70.000 tons. Rain damaged 40 per cent of tbe crop, and 20 per cent has been totallv dstroved. Australia has an oxceptionallv heavy crop of sultauas to market this season, but Calfornian crops have suffered severe daniage by frost, and the sup]>lies and quality of Smyrna fruit have ■ been afl'ected by rain, finis giving the j Australian fruit a. good position in the British market.
