GAMES ON NELSON PARK
Pleasing Form In Open= ing Fixture SOME GOOD SCORING. Bats flashed merrily on Nelson Park on Saturday when cricketers played the first matches of the season. Owing to yarious causes it was not possible to begin the .competition games but interesting fixtures in both grades were arranged and provided good sport. In the senior grade a match was arranged by the senior selector in view of the possibility of an early match againsb Manawatu for tlie Hawke Cup nnd.an interesting game resulted, the selector heing present on the' grouncl to follow the progress of the play and observe the form of the leading, players. Some very promising form was shown, particularly witb. the hat, and those of the public who visit the park during the season should witness many bright® displays. Three games were played, one senior and two second-grade, but there were many other players down for practice, and they spent a profitable afternoon in the nets. Ground and weather conditions were spleildid and there was a good attendance of spectators. Competition games open next Saturday.
