A Trial Game.
Two Senior Teams In Action. A match that was announced as a trial game in view of the Hawke Cup contest with. Manawatu was played beteen two senior teams chosen by the selector and captained by Shepherd and Worker respectively. The toss favoured- Shepherd and he elected to hat, 251 runs heing scored before the innings was terminated with eight wickets down. There were three big seores in the innings, Bickley making 89, Shepherd 58 (retired) and Schofiekl 40. Boundary shots were a feature ot their efforts, and ifc was very evident that thev had struck form early in the season. 'Williams (21), Stephenson (13). and Beck (12) also feached double figures. The wickets Were divided ainong Owen, E. Elliott, O'Brien and Reaney. "Worker's eleven replied with 184. Temperton showing pleasing form in scoring 66 before he retired. Seed (341 Giftord (21). Owen (20), King (20 retired) and Worker (10 not out) were others to get runs. Scott-Kellv, Emanuel, Nairii, Hardacre artd Swailes met with successf with the ball.
