GUY FAWKES' DAY
GATHERING IN THE PENNIES. NIGHT OUT WITH BAND. _ ' The nearness of Guy Fawkes' Day, was very plainly evidenced in Hastings this morning, when in many -of the streets young boys were seen making the most of their usual Saturday holiday from school. by liawking round their "guys" _ in the hope of securing a few pennies to put up in smoke on the night of the "glorious fifth." The fact tha£ the weather was somewhat wet did not damp trie spirits of the lads, hnd many of them no doubf made qnite enouglx cash to puvchase a fair amount of "smoke works." The children are now looking forward to the lettin'g-off of their fireworks 011 Guy Fawkes' Day, and the Hastings Citizens' Band asks them all ■ to congregate at Nelson Park, Hastings, to make one big display on Tuesday evening next. At 7.15 p.m. the band will leave Ingram's corner, and nlay to the grounds en ronte, aiid boys with "guys" are requested to join in and make a displav. Dancing on the ereeri will he indulged in and a mwsioal chairs comnotition will be puf mi for dancers. The band will be lienrd in a popular musical programme. and ice rrr>ain, • fireworks, and soft drinks will bo procurable on tliC crounds. A large crowd is expected and the chnrge for ndmlssion will be adults si>"11on'-'p and r-hildrpn free.
