GRANTS FOR IAIPROVING THE HAWKE'S BAY SCHOOLS. EDUCATION BOARD PLEASED. T . New sites or extensions. — Hastings Central, £1850; Nuhaka, £100. Additions to existing scliools (including remodelling, also additions to sanitary serviccs). — Poukawa, £150; Putere, £180 ; Tolaga Bay. secondary, £1017; Havelock North, £61 ; Pakowhai, £342 10s; Nelson Park, £1750; Manutuke, £312; Woodville, secondary, £625; Takapau, £586; Dannevirke North, £455; Taradale, £923; Waipukurau, secondary, £833. ^ Teachers' new residences. — Turiroa, £930; Tokomaru Bav, £934; Muriwai, £902. Septic tanlc drainage systems (half cost only received from Government). — Eskview, £179 10s ; Puketitiri. £103; Ti Papakuku, £106 15s; Pakowhai residenee, £30; Westshore, £86 10s. New heating systems (one-third cost only received from Govermnent). — Napier Central, £278; Takapau, £68 13s 4d°; Onga Onga. £46. New shelter sheds, hot water services in residences, fencing. — Clive, £50; Dannevirke North, £100; Taradale, £65; liot water fiervices (10), £200; Port Ahuriri, fencing, £40; Dannevirke South, fencing, £40. Techuical. new manual training rooms. — -Waipukurau, £1990. Tbe secretary added : — "Tbe cost of new sebools at Ivopuawhara and Bartlett's on tlie East Coast railway works (being built by tbe Publie Works Department) is not included. Tbe two sebools will probablv cost not less tbau £1200, and tbis amount sbould be added to the above total to ascertam tbe total expenditure ■ authorised in tlvis district."
