WINS STEAD GOLD CUP Canterbury Jockey Club's Meeting SATURDAY'S DESULTS.
CHRISTCHURCH, Last night, The Canterbury Jockey Club's Spring meeting was concluded to-day in fine weather. Tho eourse was in 8l„f* order and the att'mdance good. Ihe tote investments for the day amounted to £64.431 10s, compared with £.12.293 last year. The total for tlie meeting was £218,786 10s, ^against £194,079, an increase of £24,707 10s. Concluding results : — Sevmnur Handicap, 7 furlongs — 1 Yali'(H. Goldfinch) 1, 2 Blue Metal 2, 4 Make Up 3. Also ran: 2 Richfield, o Ansterity. 10 Stealth. 9 Bonrose, 12 Sea Raid and Miss Nightraid (bracketed). 11 Some Toff, 6 Jungle, 3 Starshooter, 13 The Bailiff, 7 Hurly Burly, 16 Phastar, 15 Ranelagh and Danthonia (bracketed), 18 Thurso, 20 Fair Exchange, 14 Grand Aere, 19 The \ iscount. 17 Kentish Lady, 22 Paliauta-I uui. 21 Corn Queen. Won by a length. Richfield was fourth. Time, 1.25. G. G. Stead Gold Cup, H miles.— 2 Chide (L. G. Morris) 1, 1 Honour 2, 3 Historic 3. Also rau: 4 Eaglet. Honour made most of the running, but Chide finished strongly to win by threequarters of a length from Honour, Historic three lengths away. Time, 2.3 4-5. Stoneyhurst Handicap, 1 mile.— 1 Hunting Cry (R. S. Bagby) 1, 3 Admiral Drake 2. 2 Count Palatme 3. Also rau : 4'Meprisant. 5 Semper Paratus. Won by a length, third two lengths away. Meprisant was fourth. Time, 1.39 2-5. Fendalton Handicap, miles.— 4 Panthcr (B. H. Tilorris) I, 1 Rabbi u, 6 Yoma 3. Also rau: S Vertigern, 7 White Fang, 2 Cashier. 3 Spearmiss, o Full Feather, 9 Tcheka, 10 Malmsey. Won by a neck, third two lengths back. Spearmiss wag fourth. Time, 2.7 3-5.
