A SLIGHT MISHAP

AERO CLUB'S SPARTAN 'PLANE. ACCIDENT IN LANDING. A slight mishap to the Hawke's Bay Aero Club's Simmonds Spartan 'plane occurred during a landing at the aerodrome early last evening, and as a result the plane will be out of action for two or three weeks, and the pilot Flight Lieut. E. Olsen, sustained minor injuries to his head and leg. It is stated that Flight-Lieut Olsen, who is an assistant instructor to the club, had indulged in a solo flight, and on landing, one of the wings of the machine hit the ground, forcing the 'plane to push its nose into the ground The impact severely dealt with the propeller and the wings, whilst the pilot was badly bumped, and sustained several cuts on the leg and head, which necessitated medical attention. He was soon all right, however, and was really little the worse for his experience. The machine itself suffered most and repairs will necessitate it being kept in dock until well on in next month. Fortunately the mishap was not by any means as serious as it might have been.
