■ ■ ■ MRS 51. H. PINCKNEY. It was with very deen and sineere regret that residents of Hastings learned yesterdav of tlie death of AI rs 5 Land Hamilton Pinckney. wife of -Mr Beginald Pinckney, manager of the Hastings brancli of Messrs Murrav, Roherts and Co., Ltd. The deceased ladv, who died somewlmt suddenly, had heen confincd to her hed for some days, but yesterdav morning she ivas ivel! enough to be wbeeled into an adjoining room hy her daughtcr, but as she was being wheeled back to her own room, she suddenly collapsed and died a few minutes later. An unfortuuate feature of her death was the faet that her husband was absent in Napier at the time, and did not learn the news until he retunied lionie. The deceased, rvho was a daughter of the late Mr Alfred Cox. of Canterbury. was particularly ivell known and held in the very highest esteem by all who knew her. .She was a very prominent croquet player, hai'ing competed in tournaments in all pnrts of the Dominion, and during the Great War she did a great deal in connection with the various moves for the benefit of those at the front. Hers was a lovahle disposition and hy all who knew her she will be sadlv missed and the very deepest sympathy will be extended to the bereaved husband, and the four daughters wh o :ye lcft to mourn her death. The daughters are Mrs Reeves, Wellington, Mrs Bvgum, Havelock North, Miss Barbara Pinckney, Christchurch. and Miss Nancy PincKiiey, -Hastings. . The interment is to he of a private nature, and it is requested that there he 110 flowers.
