WOOL SALE RETURNS

£256,000 FOR AUCKLAND GROWEPhS. COMPARISON WITH LAST YEAR.
AUCKLAND, Tliis day. . On Monday next approximately £256,000., less selling cliarges, will be distribut'ed among Auckland wool growers as a result of the sale on Monday last. Altliough it is little early yet for an exact estimate to he made regarding the average return for each hale at the sale, the averages, struck over fairly representative offerings, indicate that tlie figure shoukl he somewhere hetween £16 and £16 10s pcw bale, compared with the average price of £22 10s per bale at tlie first sale of last season. "While the average price for eacli pound last .season at the firsb sale was 15. 6d it is not likely tliat the final figures tliis year will show a return of over ll£d per lb. Altliough some buyers in iso-lat-ed instances paid an average of approximately £22 per bale for special lines there are others wliose average pureliases work out down as low as £12 per hale on line of over 300. Bales hought for Japan averaged £18 per hale.
