After playing a drawn game wx-th. the Palmerston Xorth Boys' -Hxgb School team in the annual cricket nxalch between the two colieges the Xapier Boys' High School team returned hoxne to Xapier yesterday afternoon Tlxe gaxne was abandoned through rain interfering with the second day's play. Palmerston Xorth hatted first on the opening day and made the tidy total of 294, Cingley, a son of Manawatu selector and captain, makfl| ing top score with 83. Seven Napier bowlers were tried, Bark bearin'g the brunt of the work, sending down a large nuniber of overs with his left-band ball, taking five Wickets for 93 runs. , Xapier commenced their first inning* strongly and 'at tlie end of the first day's play had 117 runs on for the loss of only oue wicket. During the night rain came on and the side collapsed the next morning. the remaining nine wiekets falling for 91 runs. 31ahony played a vexy souncf and steady 'iu'-uings for Napier, batting a long while foxv 96. Brown made 26 and Reanev 20 on the first day hut on the slow wicket next morning Beuth, with 27, was the only one to give 3lahony appreciable assistance.
