DISASTROUS BLIZZARD Thousands Of Cars Lost In Snow Drifts TRAFFIC DISLOCATFD

CReceived This Day, 2 ii.in.) YANCOUVER, Dcc. 19. A blizzard dislocated tlie traffic in Ontario yesterdajj, then moved southward through the Mississippi Yalley. The death list runs from 3U to 40.' A feature of tlie snowfall of 15 inches is that thousands of motor cars were leit stranded or abandoned bv the roadsides, the drivers being utterly unable to proceed. Huge snowdrifts piled up in a howling gale. Springtield, lllinois, reports that 600 automobiles are lo^t in snowdrifts, some of whicli are ten feet higli. Some small town newsepapers dcpended only on tlie radio for their uews, all tlie wires being down. Several places in Canadian West reported the mercury at 40 below zero.
