(To the Editor.) Sir, — I wonder if you would find space in your valuable paper for a few. remarks which I believe will be endorsed by several more, people. I am referring to some of tbe seat,s placed on the Marine Parade and by the baths. One seat in particular is really a disgrace to the local body whose care they are in. It is nothing short of disgracelui wlien the public have to suffer throngh ruined elotbes as is now the ease. Only to-day I, with my wife and ehild, deeided to go 011 the Parade for a breather and innocently sat down on what appeared to be a good seat, "painted wJilte," and wben we left were horrified to seo tbe result ; my navy suib was smothered from shoulders to seat, the boy's blue coat smothered likewise and the wife's— well: is was indescribahle. Sureiy the aufchorities, whether municipal or private, who care for sueh seats could at least have thcm repainted with a good coat of reliable paint and not sueh rubbish as they are now covere'd with, which is only a dclusion and a suare and which, wlien sueh occurrences happeu, have a very detrimental effeet on the general public, who lrelp to pay in rates and eontributions for tbe upkeexi of sueh. I hope that some person in authority will be energetic enough to see Into the matter. — I am, etc.,
