The season has made it possiblb to continue dahlia phrnting right up to the present. Dahlias planted uow will be all right for Autumn flowering. Gli rysantliemuin planting can still be do'ne. The season has been ideai for planting. Chrysanthemums planted early should now he "breaking." Restnct tho "breaks to two, or, at most, tliree in case of some of tlie weaker sorts oue is quite enough. A topdressing of cow or old staple manure will be beneficial. Failing stable manure mix four parts bonedust, one part suliihate of potnsh, one part nitrate of soda. Mix a pouud of this with a kerosene tin of soil, and topdress tlie plants, using two or tliree liaudfuls to eacli plant. „ , , Gladioli sbould have the faded blooms picked off, unless seed is required. One or two of tlie lower pods is ciuite sufficient to save. Weeds are liaving a glorious tjme. and wliere the seeds come from it is diffir -it to guess. lf onlv the seeds we sow would stand as much rough bandling, and language, and grow as wel 1 , gardening would he very mucli casier. Pick off spent blooms of gaillnrdias, corcopsis, roses, etc. Hvdrangeas are now beginning to (lower; a little liquid manure will help tbe plants. . ' Planting of salvias, petunias, _ celoI sias, marigolds, cosnio , mav still be j earried out.
