MARY BRIAN IN "THE MAN I LOVE," MAJESTIC. WEDNESDAY.
Love, its ups and dpwns, as ltichard Arlen and tlie lovable Mary Brian can portray it, is the theme ot the Majestic Theatre's attraction for Wednesday, the Paramount picture, "The Man 1 Love." It is a super-romantic drama, directed by William A. Weilman, the man who made "Wings," "Legion of the Condemned," "Ladies of the Mob" and "Beggars of Life." A strong cast liandles the thoroughly liuman charaeters of the story. Richard Arlen, who played opposite Clara Bow in "Ladies of the Mob" witli Charles (Buddy) Rogerg in "Wings" and opposite Nancy Carroll in "Manliattan Cocktail" is here given a leading role opposite another popuiar favourite of the screen. the winsome Mary Brian. Baclanova, the most talked-of woman in Hollywood as a result of her superb characterisations, has a motivating role ; Harry Green, and Jack Oakie, a graduate of the vaudeville stage, and already a success in pictures, has the wise-cracking part of a pres agent. The picture tells the story of an ambitious voung man who decides to seek fame in New York. The hometown girl to whom he is engaged follows hixn to the big city only to find that, through the interest of a wealtliy society Woman he lias made an instantaneous success and, drunk with popularity. has entei-ed into a mad whirl of living. The active jealousy of a rival and the hoinetown girl's decision to leave hira hring him to his senses. It is a picture filled with emotion, huhhling with humour and packed with thrills.
