Tepper, of New York, is visiting Napier and is at the Masonic Hotel.
Mr Chas. Gair, of the Government Andit Department, is at present m Waipukurau. Mrs F. N. Ford, of Tikolrino, is visiting Napier for her sister's wedding, which takes place to-night. Archbishop A. W. Averill left Auckland hy the Aorangi yesterday to attend the Lam'beth Conference, Mr R. P. Taschner, who has been on a holiday visit to Nelson and Wellington, has returned to Napier,'
Mr John Gardner, borough inspector, Waipukurau, has resumed dutv after a holiday spent in the south. Mr and Mrs C. B. Dpvis, of Dannevirke, sailed last night on tbe Aorangi for Canada and the United States, via Honolulu and Yancouver. Mr J. L. Saunders, deputy director, has been appointed director of dental hygiene in succession to Mr T, A. Hunter, who is about to retire. Mr and Mrs L. T. Bisson, of Napier, left yesterday afternoon on their world tour, including the Continent of Europe and the Mother Country. Mrs Sedman, of Christchurch, who has been on a holiday visit to Mi'S Salter at the sub-station, Taradale, left this morning on her return home. Captain H, Morrisby, Sydney traffic snperintendent for the Dnion Sfeamslnp Co., who is rqtinng after 40 year3' service, was presented with a wallet of notes by the wharves' sfcair. — Cahle. Mr Walter Monk, representative for J. C. Williamson (N.Z.), Ltd., is in Napier arranging for the firm's next attraction, the London comedian Ernie Lotinga and company, who are playing a huriesque farce "House Full." The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Puhlic Works, left Dannevirke _ for Wellington yesterday, and on Friday proceeda to Napier, to inspect the con- ■ neeting road to Taihape. He returns to Dannevirke on Satnrday night.
Mrs Annie Holden, the popular patroness of the Dannevirke Amateur Athletic Club and patroness of the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Athletic Suh-Centre, was at a meeting of the Dannevirke Amateur Athletic Association' presented with a. gold 'badge, embossed in the club's colours, as an emhlem of hea* office. The Rt. Hoh. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, visited Riverton, Otautau and Winton yesterday and was most enthusiasfcically received hy large gatherings of Refoim supporters. In the evening 300 supporters from all parts of Southland assemhled at a dinrer held in his. 'hononr. The function was marked hy the greatest enthusiasm and supporters were treated to an eloquent and idealistio speech by their leader. Mr Coates left for Dunedin this morning.
