SUVA, March 11. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, and his wife, who are returning fx-om Apia, are passengers aboard the Tofua for Auckland. The Minister, in an interview, said the Samoan position had much im-pi-oved., The ilau representatives met the Administrator and liimself in quite a friendly way. He had continually asked them if they had any complaints or grievences, or if they suffered from any injustiees. The Mau had marched in and wanted men were surrendered volunearily. Some were wanted on criminal charges. The natives returned to the villages. There were matters still to be adjusted, but Mr Cobbe believed the corner had been turned and tbat normal conditions would obtain gradunjly. Mr Mathews, secretary, is also returning.
