COUNTRY CRICKET
AN INTERESTING* GAME. SHERENDEN DEFEATS ESKDALE. Our Sherenden correspondent reports an interesting cricket match played at Sherenden between Eskdale and Sherenden. The game was very keenly contested and resulted in a win for Sherenden by a margin of 13 runs. Eskdale failed to do much good against the bowling of Axby and Earle, scoring only 59 runs, to which Brierly contrihuted 31 and Smith' anl King half-a-dozen' each. Bowling for Sherenden, Ashby took five wiekets for 18 runs and Earle four for a like num ber. Sherenden replied with 72, the chief scorers being Ensor senr. 24, Ensor junr. 14, Earle 8 and Axby 8. Bowling for Eskdale, Brierly took six wiekets for 19 runs and Smith three for 19. Some excellent fielding was witnessed on the part of Lowe and Bovd, Plumbridge being a great success behind the wiekets. A special word of praise ;s due to the ladies who provided a de Fghtful afternoon tea.
