The inimitahle Alexander • Watson, who is attracting large audiences tliroughout New Zealand with his dramatic interpretations and reeitals of the works of poets, dramatxsts novelists and humourists, will give a ' recital in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, to-mor-row night, at eight o'clock, under the direction of E. J. Gravestpck, Ltd. His entertainments are nnique, and the fact that he has been able to hold his public for over twenty-five-years ls a remarkable teStimoUy to his taleflts. He is an artist of rare ahility. He uses iione of the aiHbifides of the stage to gain his eft'ects. He stands, or sits, on a stage where the only furttiture is a ehair, and wholly by his wonderful artistry holds his audience from the first. His hearei's listen at first curio'usly, then intently, then enthusiastieally. His interpretative powers are wonderful. Mr WatSpn's pi'ogramme for his recital iri Hastings his been drawn up to display his remarkable versatility, and - includeS sonxe of the most famous excerptS from his repel'toire. The authors drawn Upon are Sir JT. M. Bai-rie, Shakespeare, Charlesp^Dickens, Mark Twain, Rudyard Kipling, A. A. Milne, etc. Four selections by Kipling will be given, an anthoi' for whom Mr Watson may claim to have done a great deal. He cex-tainly has made a deeix study of Kipliiig'_s works, and he seldom is more riffective _ and entertaining than during his Kipling nightS. The Kipling works chosen are "The Ballad of the Bolivar," "Mandalay," "The Bell BuOy.'* and "The Married Man.' The box plan.is at FaiJ's, Hastings.
