The inci*eas6s ifl wages to the lower paid officers in the Post and Telegraplx Service, decided npon l'ecently by the Postmastei'-Genei'al - (tb e Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) , will come . into operation as from to-morrow. The scale for the general division has been revised, and the incrcases are designed to pl'Ovide a more reasonable payment to male officers after completing their appreuticesbip period of five years. It was stated by Sir Joseph W al-d recently that a woi'ltman usually reaelied the maximum of his grad© (£240) when he was 26 years of age, but under the new scale he should l-each • that wage at approximately 23 yeai's . of age. The salai-y schedules will be gazetted this week.
