Johnston, of Waipukurau,' is visiting Napier. Mr and Mrs A. G. Nolan, of Wairoa, are visitors to Napier.. Miss L. Bakehill, of Napier, is visiting the Waikato district. Mr Lance Hall, of Wellington, was a visitor to Napier yesterday. Mr and Mrs J. A. Wyatt, of Gisborne, aro on a visit to Napier. Mr and Mrs T. H. Thomas are Christchurch visitors to Napier. Miss M. Morris returned to Wanganui frqm Napier on Monday last, Mrs George Kelly, Bluff Hill, has been visiting Wellington and Masterton. Mrs C. H. Croker, New Plymouth, is spending a month's holiday iu Hawke's Bay. Mr W. J. Allen, of Auckland, is visiting Napier, and is a guest at the Masonic Hotel. Mrs P. Williams and Miss J. Williams were Hawke's Bay visitor to Feilding recently. Mr and Mrs P. Y. Stevens, of Wellington, are on a visit to Mrs S. G. Ellison, Brewster street, Napier. Mr and Mrs E. H. Gibbons, of Auckland, and late of "Waratah." Greenmeadows, are on a visit to Napier. Mr and Mrs H. Sturgess and family, of Gore are on a holiday visit to Mr and Mrs C. Alderton, Spencer road,' Napier. Miss Jean Cowap, Napier, leaves almost immediately for Wellington, where she has been appointed to a position in the Wellington dental clinic. Mr R. B. Williams, _ of the Deeds Office, Napier, has received advice that he has been successful in passinghis gnal of the law-professional examination. Mr and Mrs R. M. Chadwick, Mr and Mrs H. Steele, Mr ano Mrs J. H. Edmundson, and Mr and Mrs L. S. Me'Clurg left Napier at the beginning of the week to visit The Chateau, Tongariro. Lieutenant P. J. S. George, V.D., of the 1st. Battalion, Hawke's Bay Regiment, Hastings, has received notice of his promotion to the rank of Captain, and his appointment as quartermaster. Miss Large, of Napier leaves this Week for Vienna to attend the International Conference of the National Couneil of Women. Miss Large will act as delegate for the Women' s Institutes of New Zealand. The engagement is annonced -of Rua Adele, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. King, Waipawa, to William I'hillip Taylor, youngest son of Mi'S Metcalf , Stratford, and _ the late Mr Jolm Pru.iean, Wanganui.
