AUCKLAND, This day. "Will Sir Joseph Ward retain the office of Prinie Minister during _ the coming session of Parliament providiug the Government survives a no-con-fidence motion?" This is a question asked in many quarters. Sir Joseph is still receiving treatment at Rotorua, and those personal friends who have seen him this week state that the veteran statesman is deriving marked benefit from the treatmenb. Sir Joseph is as mentally alert as ever, only his legs are giving him trouble. At the same time it is considered b / many competent of judgmg that Sir Joseph may decide to relinquish bis office in viqw of the heavy strain involved during the coming session, which Has eveiy indication of being a very lively one. Should Sir Joseph Ward deem it necessary to take this step, for reasons which would be as deeply regretted by his political opponents as by his most ardent supporters, the future political outlook in New Zealand will be very interesting.
