A SMALL SALE
WAIPUKURAU YARDING TO-DAY. FEW BUYERS PRESENT. There was another small cattle yarding at Waipukurau saleyards this morning, the varied collection of beasts yarded being of a mixed qual'rty. Qnly a nioderate number of buyers was in attendance. Bidding was slow for a start. A P.A. Shorthorn vealer, in prime conditipn, was good Duying at £3 ls 3d. P.A. Hereford steers, aged, in forward condition, were passed in at £7 10s. A fair conditioned P.A. heifer was knocked clown at £6 7s. Five pounds was the only bid received for a dairy-bred fat cow, but was not sufficient to buy her. A lighter conditioned Friesian cow was passed in at £2 10s 2d. Eight empty cows sold at £3 5s. The best cattle pen yarded consisted ot nine prime P.A. and Hereford cows and lieifers. It was put by at £7 15s. _ One J ersey ci'oss cow in milk, poor in condition and weak in one quarter, did not raise a single bid. The sheep yarding was almost as small as the cattle pen. Ten prime heavy ewes fetched 16s 6d. A fair pen of 90 mixed sex woolly hoggets, a hardy line, was knocked down for 8s. Three hundred and thirteen twoteoth ewes running with Romney rams, a very fair station line, well conditioned and hright-lookiug sheep, were put by at 19s. Another attractive oue, 206 wether lam'bs, good, hardy-looking sheep in good condition, was passed in at 13s. This concluded the day's sale.
