WHAT LORD BLEDISLOE AIMS AT. ARRIVAL IN ROTORUA.
ROTORUA, Last night. ■Thefir Excellencies' party arrived a-t Rotorua at noon. They. were received on tlie platform by tlie Mayor, Mr Thomas Jackson, conncillors and Mr V. Ward and Mr Jeffrey, 011 hehalf of Sir Joseph. They were driven to the Grand Hotel. In the afternoon a civic reception was held in the bath buildings. The Mayor welcomed Their Excellencies. In reply His Excellency thanked them for the cordial welcome. He refea-red to the loyalty of the Arawas. He alluded to Rotorua as the most celebrated spa in the Soutliern Hemisphere, and enumerated the attractions .of the scenery, climate, sports ahd the therapeutic qualitie's of ' the waters. . He spoke of land experiments in the district and afforestation. It was a day of slogans, and he gave his hearers, "Preserve from deterioration and contamination your beautiful countryside on oue hand and the youth of the country on the other." The former was the latter's grandest heritage. .He advocated strenuous commercial integrity. _ Concluding, Lord Bledisloe said lie was pleased to be Governor-General in New Zealand and lie would be s!i!l prouder if he could iend a useful hand in helping to sta'bilise the rural prqs>perity, and through it the prosperityof all classes of the town and country . His Excellency afterwards visited the Prime Minister. ,
