11ULING PRICES IN CANTERBURY

CHRISTCHURCH, Last night. The Addington market to-day attracted a heavier entry of fat and storo sheep and about the ordinarj' peniiing of fat cattle. Store sheep. — The entry was tlie heaviest for sonie liiontlis. Ewfes and lambs provided a heavy section. The di'y sheep included entries fdom the Ghatlialns and Marlborough. The market was sluggish aud tliel'e tvas a general easing off up to ls per liead, witli passiiigs fairly numel'ous. Exti'a good Romney cross ewe hoggets 24s to 25s. medium to good ewe hoggetg 15s to 17s 8d, ordinary ewe hoggets 11 s to 12s 9d, mixed sex hoggets 4 and G-th 8s 9d to Ils, medium to good shorn Romney wetliers, 15s 4d to 16s 6d, ordinary shorn Romney vethei's 12s 9d to 14s lOd, ordinary 2, 4 and G-th wethers to 14s 7d, medium to good ewes and lamlis (all counted) 12s 6d to 14s 7d, ordinary ewes and lambs (all counted) 8s to 11s 6d, backward, ewes and lambs (all connted) 6s to 7s, aged and hackward ewes 3s lOd to 5s. Spring lambs. — 500 were penned, mostly of medium quality. The heavier entry over supplied tlie mai'ket and there was a drop of 3s to 4s, a liead. One good line of 28 hrought from 29s ld to 33s 7d. Fat slieep. — A heavy entry of over •5000 head, whiclt included North Island, Southland. AATest Coast and C'hatliam lines. About 20 per cent. of the entry was sliol'ii. Extra prime heavy wethers to 36s 4d, in-ime heavy wethers 29s to 33s, medium Weight prime wethers 26s 6d to 28s 6d, second quality wethers 24s Gd to 26s, inferior wethei-s Sls_ to 24s, extra prime ewes to 31s ld, prime ewes 25s to 29s, ordinary ewes 20s to 24s, light ewes 20s to 24s, light and aged ewes 16s 6d to 19s 6d, best shorn wethers to 29s ld, ordinary sliorn wetliers to 24s. best shorn ewes to 24s 4d. Fat cattle. — 1420 yarded, lncltiding 111 from the Nortli Island and others from Southland and South Otago. Slightly lietter demand for all classes. Dairy cattle. — For good springers there was a fairly good demand, but baekward sorts sold draggingly. Best third and foui'th calvers £9 to £12 6s 9d, medium £5 10s to £8 15s, inferior £3 10s to £5, good beifers £8 6s to £10 15s, medium £6 to £7 5s, inferior £4 to £5 os. Fat pigs. — Porkers were in medium supply in fihe fat pig pens and sold at unchanged prices. There was a slnall yarding of baconers, and these also sold at late rates, Choppers were in over- supply and were considerably easier. Values were : Choppers £3 to £7 10s, porkers 47s 6d to 55s, lieavy porkers 56s 6d to £3 7s 6d, average price per lb. 7-J-d to S^-d ; baconers £3 10s to £4 3s 6d, lieavy baconers to £4 13s 6d, average price a lb. 6|d to 7^d. Store pigs — Tlie yarding of store pigs was a small one, and there was a keen demand througliout fihe sale from a large attendance of buyers. Values Were: Large stores 40s to 47s 6d, medium stores 32s to 38s, small stores 28s to 31s 6d, slips and good weaners 33s to 28s 6d, inferior weaiiers down to ,10s;
