CHRISTMAS-TREE AND SALE OF WORK. A sale' of work in aid of" the funds to meet some necessary expenses at tho Church Room, Tinakori-road, and St. Paul's Anglican Sunday School, was opened in j:he Sydney-street Schoolroom on Thursday afternoon by the Rev.' T. H. Sprott'. A fe'atijre of the sale was a very fine Christmas-tree. Following are the winners of the competitions : — Cakes, first prizes, Rita M'Coll, Kathleen Clark ; second, Olive Ellison, Vida Nation. Scones : Emma Baker, 1 ; Daisy Wakelin, 2; Daniel Alabaster, 3. Sweets: Ella Aikin, lj^Mary Hamilton, 2., Bouquet : Edna Adams, 1 ; Violet Tyer, 2. Native Ferns ;. Frazel Godfrey, 1 ; Ethel Cook, 2. The prizes were given by Mesdames Wallis, Duncan, Pynsent, Mills, Stealey, W. R. E. Brown, and Miss Coates. The winners were all under 18 years of age". Mr. Ward's band played selections, the Sunday School children under Miss Upham sang a carol, musical items were contributed by Misses Martin, Ronayne, and Oswin, Messrs. Webb and Smith and a recitation by two of the children. The stallholders were : — Plain Work : Mesdames King and Koch* Fancy Stall : Mesdames Cole and Norberg. Confectionery: Misses Ellison, E. Baker, Greville, and Cope. Flower Stall : Miss Brady. Doll Stall: Mils B. Miles. Snowball: Misses Cole and Hamilton. Bran Tub : Misses Ivy Poulton and_ Morrison. Christmas-tree : Miss Rowlands, Rev. H. T. Stealey, Messrs. Oswin and Corde'ry. The tearoom was under the charge of Mesdames Warren, Buckeridge, and Galvin, Misses Wilson, F. Warren, G. Brandon, and Buckeridge. Father Christmas was impersonated by Mr. Knowles. The sale, which was organised by the Revi Mr. and Mrs. Stealey and a committee of ladies, was a great sue- ! cess.
