WEEK-END NEWS SUMMARISED
NEW YORK, 4th October. The British advance north of Le Catelet continues, and the Germans have set fire to Douai and Cambrai. The French and Americans have attacked between the Meuse and the Argonne, and have, captured Gesnes, Fleville, Chehery, and La Farge. A United Press message states that the French and American troops are less than five miles from Vouzieres. A London message states authoritatively that it has been learned that the Americans have captured Cunel. WASHINGTON, sth. October. The French and American attacks in Champagne have forced the Germans to retreat on the left flank towards the river Arne. The French have reached the heights south-east of Moronvillers. North-west of Reims, in..'Eve days, the French have captured 2500 prisoners and 31 guns. NEW YORK, 4th October. Mr. James states : The American troops are astride the Kreimhilde line, after a day of terrific fighting.
