ANOTHER EXTENSION OF TERM.

Cabinet has agreed to a further extension of four months (from 22nd October) in the High Commissioner's term.

The Minister of Internal Affairs (the •Hon. G. W. Russell) remarked to-day that the series of four-monthly extensions began in 1915 (on the conclusion of the statutory three-year period), at the sug-' gestion of Sir Thomas Mackenzie, who' expressed a wish that he should have the option of vacating the office on giving four months' notice.
