SOUTH WELLINGTON
The "breaking-up" ceremony at South Wellington hchool was held in the school hall on Friday. The chairman, Mr. C. W. J. Collyer thanked the headmaster and his staff for their efforts and co-operation during the v year, and spoke appreciatively of the generous assistances and time given to the school sports and games. The headmaster gave a brief review of- the year s work and thanked the parents for their interest, the ready response made to the many appeals during the year, and especially for the large attendance on parents' day. A hearty round of applause was clven the donors of the sports trophies, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. J. *Wh n ™r\ Coll°, Campbell, for the Melrosa Football Club, and Norman Tanner. The trophies were awarded as followsBest Rugby player, J. Miller; most Improved Player, J. Stevenson. Cricket, best batting. D. Hennessey; best bowling, J. Bryan. Hockey L. Wellum. Association, A. Gates Tennis Betty Collyer. Basketball, Esme Clark.
