MIDLAND COLLAPSE.
Old Boys have a splendid chance of gaining an outright win over Midland as the result of Saturday's play on No. 2 wicket at the Basin Reserve. Midland had first tise of a batsman's wicket, but could make little headway against the bowling of Parsloe and Badeock, and were dismissed in under two hours for 04 runs. From the start the wickets fell in quick succession, and when the last man went out only three had reached double figures, with Lawton the only one to pass the 20 mark. The bowlers were always on top, and the scoring painfully slow. Parsloe was in great form with 'the"ball? capturing sis wickets at a cost of 7 runs apiece, all his victims being clean bowled. Badeock was also well on the mark, bowling with his accustomed steadiness. He took three wickets at a cost of 17 runs. Old Boys, who opened with Parsloe ard Reynolds, started no better than their opponents, Reynolds being run out before the account had been, opened. Parsloe and Bull, however, were not troubled by the attack, and carried the score past the half-century before Parsloe was beaten by one from Baker. A century partnership followed between Bull and Lamason. They were inclined to lay the wood on when the opportunity offered, and were not long in collecting their runs. After Bull had put one into Baker's hands ofi Robertson, Lambert joined Lamason and the score was brought within easy mark of the second hundred. Duncan was neatly stumped by Tindill off Baker before he had got going, but Badeock gave one of the best batting displays he has given this season, and when stumps were drawn he was going well with 22 to his credit. Baker was the best of the bowlers, taking four wickets for 78 runs. The others tried gave the batsmen little cause for concern. Details:— MIDLAND. • First Innings.
