(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, 22nd December.

John Massey Gardiner, aged 50, married, with five young children, residing at Te Papapa, was drowned in the upper reaches of Manukau Harbour on Saturday afternoon. Gardiner was fishing from a dinghy with a net when he appeared to overbalance, and became entangled in the net.
