F. J. McKay, private trainer to the Southland sportsman, Mr W. T. Hazlett, was at Iticcarton on Thursday in an effort to find suitable accommodation lor the farely large string lie will have racing at the Grand National meeting. Evidently the southern trainer appreciates the line galloping ground provided at headquarters.
At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference the following remit will be moved by tlio Manawatu Racing Club: “That while emphasising our loyalty to all decisions of the conference, this club is strongly of the opinion that in ail cases where any member of a committee of tlie conference is directly interested in any matter affecting bis club before such committee, such member should not act upon the committee while it is deliebrating that particular question.”
Harbour View, Kilhite, and Blue Sky, which filled the places in the last race of the Ellerslic meeting, started from widcout positions at the mile post, viz., 20, 10 and 18. Harbour View did not come prominently into the picture- until the straight was entered, but the closing run of the Heather Mixture gelding was very pronounced and he. scored by threeqcarters of a length, to return double figures and give 11. Wiggins his only winning ride at the meeting.
