OLD SOLDIERS.

New Plymouth, last night. A meeting was held to-night of the descendants of old soldiers who fought in the Alaori wars, to arrange matters in connection with the forthcoming unveiling of hatchments at St. Alary’s. The proposed date was next Sunday, but now it has been postponed till Thursday week. An invitation will he extended to General Hector .Macdonald, the Governor, anl Premier to he pioaenf. A committee was formed in conjunction with the Veterans’ Association to arrange for the c-nter? lining of old soldiers when attending. Efforts are to he made to made to get a full battalion parade of volunteers in connection with 1 the unveiling, ar.d tho ceremony is ex- I pected to bo most imposing. 1
