MISHAP IN FRENCH PASS.

MAPOURIKA DAMAGES THE BE ACON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, last night. In coming through the French Pass about 4 o’clock this morning the steamer Mapourika swerved, and touched the beacon with her bow, canting the beacon. No damage was done to the steamer, but it is believed that the lamp on the beacon was broken. Those on board the steamer saw the light-keeper put off from the mainland to the beacon. The Mapourika wept astern, and did not come through the Pass for a couple of hours. A preliminary enquiry has been held by the Collector of Customs, who will forward the evidence to the Marino Department.
