ACQUISITION IN CHINA.
HOW GREAT BRITAIN WAS FOOLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Feb. 11. Lord Onslow states that the fortifying and garrisoning of Weihaiwei has been abandoned. The position is utilisable as a sanatorium, and will continue to be a useful and valuable concession. The Colonial Office will administer it.
Lord Selborne said that the change was due to considerations of naval strategy. It was still valuable as a naval base.
