FARMERS' UNION.
A GOOD SUGGESTION. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. At a meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union the following motion was carried : “ That this executive is of opinion (1) that the present system of the disposal of New Zealand frozen mutton and lamb in England by a number of different consignees competing against one another is very prejudicial to the interests of producers ; (2) that some form of co-operative combination of those interested in the frozen trade, whereby absolute control of the sale of the wholo output of New Zealand shall be invested in ono company or board, is essential for the realisation of tho full intrinsic value of our produce ; and (3) that all branches of the Union throughout New Zealand he invited to call meetings to consider this question as early as possible, so that the Wellington Conference may be enabled to take up the matter, and approach the Government for enabling legislation if they think it advisable to do so.”
