RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
TRUCKS AND CARRIAGES ' DERAILED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. When the midday train from Rangiora to day was approaching Papauui, the axle of the frozen meat van broke, with the result that two trucks of stock and footpassenger carriages were derailed, and the line for some distance was torn up. There were a considerable number of passengers, who were much shaken and frightened, but the prompt and judicious action of the driver and guard prevented the accident having more serious consequences. It is expected that the line will be restored tomorrow.
