At the banquet to-night the Premier read the following letter from Sir Gordon Sprigg, Premier of Cape Colony :—“ My friends here are so delighted with the firm and noble stand you have taken upon behalf of South Africa, and we shall never forget the help that has been rendered by the men of New Zealand in the field. That help is still being continued, and I think the Boers are at last beginning to understand that the Sons of Britain throughout the world are determined that the supremacy of their country and Sovereign shall bo maintained.”
