SYDNEY,- Mar. 3 1, Major Leneham, who has returned to Sydney, gives a direct denial to the statements that he was imprisoned in connection with the shooting of Boers. He says that he was ne*er charged, never tried, and never sentenced. He also states that Morant and Handcock were not immediately under his charge when the shootrng was done. Major Leneham has furnished a detailed account of the whole incident to the military authorities. He says that when all the facts are published the dishonoring spots on the names of Morant and Handcock will disappear. He also strongly resented the comments of London papers. MELBOURNE, Mar, 31.
Mr Barton has cabled to Lord Kitchener, asking for full details of .the affair..
From numerous and conflicting statements published in the papers t appears that the officers were first tiled and acquitted of alleged murder of a German missionary, and subsequently they were court-martialled for shooting Boers,
