MAN DROWNED.

RETICENCE OF SHIP’S OFFICERS. [By Telegraph—Press Association]. Auckland, last night. A seaman named Plunkett, of Bristol, was drowned off’ the Kumara after leaving Hobart for Auckland. He was on the night watch. He had on thick clothing, and was called to assist in trimming sails. Owing to the heavy clothing he got entangled in the ropes and was thrown overboard. A boat was lowered, but no trace could be found of Plunkett. The Kumara arrived on Friday, but the officers did not communicate news of the fatality to the press.
