Regent and Ronald were prominent for the greater part of the journey. Regent was first over the fence on the hill, followed by Ronald, Mermaid, Ethilere, and Lindhia. A great struggle ensued down the straight, Ronald winning by a head. Chelsea fell and was killed. Time, 7.7. Dividend, .£l4 17s.

The results were Flying Handicap : Livonia 1, Faugh-a-Ballagh 2, Lady’s Link 3. Scratched: Lauristina and Rose Plot. Won by a head, after a great raco up the straight, a length between second and third. Time 1.17, divs. £1 19s and £1 5s 6d. Maiden Plate: Mairehau 1, Kuresow 2, Geverite 3. All started. Won all the way, Time 2.2 2-5, dfvs. £2 7s 6d and £1 17s. Kawakawa Hurdles: The Hempie 1, Dr Bill 2, Tirea 3. All started. Dr Bill led till six furlongs from home, when Hempie supplanted him, and won by three lengths, the same distance separating second and third. Time 3.55, divs, £2 lls and 212 7s.

Taonui ilacK nuraies: wainer i, x\uushank 2, Bones 3. Scratched: Clarion, Awahuri, and Melrose. The winner was with the leaders all the way, and won by a! length, Bones a good third. Benefactor took the lead, closely followed by Halberdier and Motor, the three carrying the rest of the field along at a merry pace.
