MINING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. For the four-weekly period ended April 2nd the Kauri p’reehold Gold Estates Company’s crushing gave a return valued at £2222.' A FIRE. A fire at Northcote this afternoon resulted in the destruction of the post office, occupied by Mr Lepper, Manchester’s boot shop, and two houses, occupied by Mrs Musgrove and Mrs Stullman. All postal matter was saved. The insurances were : —Musgrove’s house (owned by BrodieJ, £125 ; Lepper (post office building), £2OO in the National. The furniture was also insured. The other insurances are not available, but all are small amounts.
