RIOT ON A STEAMER.
(By Telegraph—Proas Association.) Auckland, last night. Considerable disturbance was caused by some of tho firemen on tho Waimato at Queen streot wharf on Saturday evoning. As the steamer was on tho point of leaving for Wellington, tho men defied tho officers, and for a tuno something liko pandemonium reigned. Eventually two of tho ringleaders were placed in irons. Tho steamer went down tho harbor, and off Bean Rock lighthouso a further disturbanco occurred. Tho stoauicr dropped anchor und signalled for the police, but just us the polico were preparing to proceed to tho steamer she was seen to ho under way again. About 11 o’clook she passed round the North Head. A report was current that tho steamer struck on a reef off Bean Rock, hut, tho rumor evidently aroso from the fact of the stoamor anchoring thore for tho roason previously stated.
