YACHT ASHORE.
NO ONE ABOARD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. This afternoon Inspector Cullen received information that a yacht came ashore yesterday afternoon at Putiki Bay, Waiheko Island. The yacht was under full sail, and there was no ono on board. The yacht belonged to a man named Smith. It is believed that he left Chamberlain’s Island on Sunday, with the intention of coming to town, and that in some way or other he fell overboard. There is a chance that Smith may have swam ashore, but there seems to bo very little doubt that ho has been drowned.
