Ho admitted that ho was aware of the consequences of his refusing, but he preferred to confront- an earthly court to offending God. Tho Court unanimously acquitted him of the charge of disobeying his general, and sentoneed him to nominal imprisonment for disobeying tho request of tho Civil authorities.
