TIIE CREW’S EXPERIENCES,

Island news by the Hauruto, winch arrived to day, states that toe barque Maiuien, olio tons, loaded with BCIU tons of copra, and bound from Nukulofa to Eutope, was abandoned off the Kemiadecs, as she was making water, which was lOfo deep in tile snip’s hold. Captain Nelson and tho crew took to tho boats and landed on Sunday Island. Finding no inhabitants there they left for Tonga, where they arrived after a voyage of 12 days The master reports that the vessel encountered squally weather, and .r heavy head sea, which caused her to leak. Tho crew suffered no hardships. The boats wore well provisioned. FURTHER DETAILS.
Late:.—Further particulars as to the abandonment of the barque Malmen siiow that on December Id there was ten feet of water in the ship’s holds. On that day it was also discovered that a portion of the cargo had caught fire. The flames rapidly .spread, and soon enveloped the whole siiip. It was decided to abandon tiie vessel, and the captain and crew accordingly put off in the ship’s boats.
